The Seawise Giant (later also named Happy Giant, Jahre Viking, Knock Nevis, Oppama, and finally Mont) was a supertanker that was the longest ship ever built.
Its length was 458.45 meters! Its Construction was completed in 1979 and retired in 2009. It had the largest capacity ever recorded. It could not navigate through the English Channel, the Suez Canal and the Panama Canal.
During the Iran-Iraq war it sank, but later it was restored and returned to service. Its last use was a floating storage and unloading unit moored off the coast of Qatar in the Persian Gulf.
