The 100 metres is a sprint race that takes place in track and field competitions. It is the shortest common outdoor running distance and is one of the most popular and famous events in the sport of athletics! It has been contested at the Summer Olympics since 1896 (first Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece) for men. The corresponding women’s event has been continuously held since 1928.

The world record is held by Usain Bolt from Jamaica, with a time of 9.58 seconds and it was achieved on August 16, 2009 in Berlin!
